Deck
The deck of the Uditer S3 is made with 7-layer composites, which combine 2 layers of bamboo and 5 layers of Canadian maple wood.
This combination gives the deck plenty of flexibility and makes it extremely durable. The bamboo makes the deck feel soft and bouncy, which really comes in handy when you are riding on uneven grounds like bumpy roads.
On the other hand, the Canadian maple wood keeps the board strong and steady when you are riding at high speeds.
Moreover, when you are riding, you will find the board very smooth and provides you with excellent shock absorption on uneven grounds.
It is not that overly stiff like the carbon decks usually have, so you won’t feel rough while riding. The deck feels very smooth and gives you the ability to make quick turns easily.
The deck of the Uditer S3 has a low and wide shape design, which helps to keep your balance steady when you are riding fast or even making sharp turns. This electric skateboard has a deck length of 38.2 inches (97 cm) and a width of 10.8 inches (27.5 cm).
You will feel like the board is moving with your body when you lean into a turn. This way, it makes the carving smooth and natural.
This electric skateboard also offer a handlebar that can be attached right in front of the deck.
It comes in really handy when you are completely new to the e-skate world. This option helps you to get more balance and stability when you are especially learning for the first time.
And yes, once you are confident enough to ride without it, you can just take it off.
However, the board can support riders up to 150 kg (330 lbs), which is suitable for every kind of rider.
On a personal note, I found the deck super comfortable and feel very stable when I am riding in city streets. Even when I hit small cracks or bumps, this board absorbs the shocks really well and makes the ride feel very smooth.
Trucks
The trucks of this electric skateboard are equipped with 8-inch magnesium-aluminum alloy, which is highly durable and light in weight.
These trucks play a huge role, especially when you are carving or taking sharp turns at high speeds.
Moreover, they are also built with a 45-degree baseplate angle, which gives you the ability to turn the e-board easily without losing stability.
So, you won’t feel unsteady even if you are riding at high speeds and at the same time, you will be able to carve smoothly through rough paths.
These trucks have a double-pillar design with high-resilience 98A bushings. If you don’t know, the bushings are like small rubbery rings that are placed inside the trucks of your e-skateboard.
And these play a vital role in how well your board turns. While softer bushings make the board easier to turn, they can feel a bit unstable.
But in the case of the United S3, these bushings are firmer, so the board will feel steady, especially when you are riding at your high-speed limit.
Motors and Speed
This electric skateboard has two 600W hub motors, which give you a total of 1200 watts of power.
These dual 600w motors are generally quieter and require less maintenance if you compare them to belt drive motors.
The hub drive motors of this electric skateboard make the board very powerful and fast. You can hit the top speed of 28 MPH (45 km/h), which is seriously fast for a budget-friendly electric skateboard.
Not only this, the Uditer S3 also comes with 4 different speed modes so that you can switch them easily with your wireless remote.
The mode 1 and 2 are great for beginners who are just starting. This mode gives you smooth acceleration without being too aggressive.
On the other hand, if you want to push the e-board to its maximum limit, then you can go for modes 3 and 4.
While speed mode 3 can get you closer to its maximum speed, speed mode 4 gives you much stronger acceleration and torque compared to other modes.
Actually, I like riding mostly on modes 3 and 4 most of the time, but the lower modes also don’t feel that slow as they are well-tuned and give you steady rides.
So, one important question comes to every rider. Can the Uditer S3 handle hills? The answer is yes, but it is limited.
I found that these powerful motors work really well on gentle hills and slopes. But if you are thinking of riding on steep hills, then I don’t think it is a good idea.
Battery and Range
One of the standout features of the Uditer S3 is its swappable battery system, which comes in really handy if you are planning for a long-ride adventure.
This Uditer electric skateboard is equipped with a 10S2P 42V swappable lithium battery, and the standard 218Wh version lets you ride with a range of 10 to 12 miles per battery on a single charge.
Seems quite low, isn’t it? But don’t worry. You can even upgrade it to a 328Wh battery, which gives you a remarkable range of up to 20 to 25 miles per charge. But you have to purchase it separately.
This long range electric skateboard also has a patented quick-swap design, which allows you to swap the batteries just within 5 seconds, so you don’t have to wait for recharging. Impressive, isn’t it?
Swapping the batteries is easy. Keep the spare battery in the backpack and then you just have to take out one of the 2 batteries and slide the fresh one into it. That’s it. You are good to go.
The charging time of the regular battery takes around 4 hours to charge completely. But if you don’t want to wait for that long, then you can use the optional fast charger, which lets you charge the battery just within 2 hours.
Want more? This electric skateboard also comes with a smart charging system, which keeps your battery healthy and in great shape even if you are charging regularly.
This charging system extends the lifespan of your battery so you can ride even more and have long-term performance.
However, the range of the Uditer S3 depends on a lot of factors, like the type of terrain you are riding on, the weight of the rider, speed, etc.
In the real world, the range is not a fixed number you can always rely on. It really depends on how and where you ride.
Wheels
The Uditer S3 lava monster has 105mm polyurethane wheels, which are usually larger than the standard electric skateboard.
This larger size of the wheels makes your ride feel smooth, even riding on small obstacles like pebbles, cracks and rough patches without feeling uncomfortable.
Once you ride it, you will notice how stable the board is. This electric skateboard has a wide wheelbase and bigger wheels, which keeps you balanced even when riding on small rough patches and gives you a comfortable riding experience.
These wheels are soft and have a rating of 78A hardness. It means the softer wheels provide excellent grip on the road and help to absorb shocks so your feet and legs won’t feel any bump.
Some riders have hit 26mph easily, and some riders even said reaching 28mph is totally possible. The coolest thing is that you will feel very stable even riding at this kind of speed.
But the question is, what about the off-road terrains? Now, this electric skateboard can handle short grass and light trails pretty well, but it is not designed for handling rough off-road conditions.
Though, you can still ride in the grassy grounds at around 8 to 10 mph, which is quite impressive for street wheels.
But these wheels are not ideal for steep hill climbing or loose surfaces because they have smooth tread, which doesn’t provide enough grip if you try to climb uphill.
ESC and Remote
The UDiter S3 has an upgraded LinYi 2.0 ESC, which is actually like the brain of the board. It controls everything from the speed to the brakes, which makes your ride feel smooth and responsive.
If you compare it to the older version of the ESC, this ESC is much smarter, faster and energy-sufficient.
So you will get 21% better energy savings, which means you will be able to cover more distance from the same battery without charging too often.
Plus, it also gives you a 37% faster response time for both acceleration and braking. It makes your ride feel quicker and more responsive.
The electronic brakes of this electric skateboard manage how the brakes work by using the motors to slow you down.
One thing I have noticed while testing is that when you are riding at a slow speed, the brakes will feel very smooth. But if you are riding especially downhill above 24 mph, which is quite fast, then the brake response time can be a bit slow at first.
But when the board slows down around 20 mph, the brakes feel much stronger all of a sudden, which can throw you off balance if you are not ready for it.
So, it is better to gently press the brakes instead of hitting it down all at once. By doing this, you will feel more comfortable and will be able to have a smoother and controlled ride.
In short, the ESC works very well, but if you prefer high-speed runs, then you might need to adjust your braking style to avoid any sudden jerks or cause accidents.
On the other hand, the remote is very easy to use. Unlike other e-skate remotes where your thumb might slip, this remote has an excellent smooth and grippy thumbwheel.
You have a thumbwheel option for controlling the speed and braking. You just have to push it with your thumb forward to accelerate and pull it down to apply the brakes.
The remote also gives you the option to switch between 4 different speed modes, like how fast you want to ride, depending on your skill level.
Plus, the remote has a battery indicator, which shows you how much battery is left for both the remote and the skateboard.
There is also a real-time speed display that shows you the current speed so you can keep an eye and don’t have to guess how fast you are riding.
One of the cool features of the remote is that you don’t always have to press the power button to turn the board on. Just give it a little push with your foot, and just like that, the board will power up automatically.
Is the Uditer S3 worth it?
After testing the UDITER S3 Lava Monster, I can surely say that it quite surprised me. I didn’t expect much at first when I bought this electric skateboard, but the overall riding experience changed my mind.
I really love how smooth this e-board feels, especially when I am cruising around the city and carving on open roads. Honestly, it feels just awesome.
This electric skateboard is designed for everyday city roads or slightly bumpy terrains. So, if you are a commuter and thinking of using it for daily commuting or casual cruising, then you can’t get better than this.
In the end, I have to say that if you are looking for a budget-friendly and affordable electric skateboard, then the UDiter S3 will be a lot of value for this kind of budget.
When it comes to commuting, the UDITER S3 is one of the best electric skateboards I’ve ever ridden so far and the long-range battery has been a game changer for me.
So yeah, that’s it for my UDiter S3 lava monster review.
