Let me share my own experience. To be honest, at first, I was a bit worried about the deck’s weight, which is around 15.3kg (33lb). But once I started riding it, I realized why it was built this way. 

The combination of bamboo and fiberglass naturally adds some weight, but this also makes the deck strong and long-lasting. When it comes to riding fast, this deck is quite stable, causing fewer vibrations and being less bouncy than other lighter ones.

This Evolve board is 101cm (39.7″) long, which is a good size for both stability and control. It also features “foot-locking dropdowns” and a “W” concave. This simply means the unique design helps you keep your feet securely firm to the board, especially when riding through hard curves and rough terrain.

It is incredibly responsive on smooth terrain. In contrast, when riding in rough terrain, the flexible deck and tires naturally absorb most of the shock, making your ride smoother and more comfortable. The Diablo’s deck can support a maximum load of 120 kg (265 lbs). 

Trucks 

The Evolve Supercarve 2 trucks are designed to balance stability and better control. They give you smooth and controlled turning and help you slide when you are carving hard or slowing down.

Motor

So, how long does it take to hit that 50 km/h mark? Well, it depends on acceleration.

Nowadays, most high-performance electric skateboards can hit that mark within a few seconds. But it depends on a few factors, like the rider’s weight, what kind of terrain you are riding on, and the wheel setup. 

The good news is that this board has adjustable acceleration curves via the Explore app. This means you can play with the settings exactly how you like. Now, if you are planning on riding on smooth ground, then you can expect instant acceleration in no time.

Hills can be a real test for any electric skateboard because this is where most boards struggle. According to the specs, this board can tackle a 45% gradient, which is seriously steep, but I wanted to see how it truly performs in real-world conditions. 

So, I took the board to the steepest hills in my area, where most boards fails to climb. At first, I expected that it would slow down, but the board really kept pushing with solid power.

Well, of course, it sure takes a little longer to reach your desired speed compared to flat grounds. The power was steady, and I never felt like I was losing control. 

The brakes also play a huge role in keeping the ride under control when you are tackling rough terrains at high speed.

The board has efoc 2 regenerative braking, which means every time you hit the brakes, it helps recharge the battery a little. It is a smart way to make the brakes smoother while extending your ride time.

As I mentioned before, the Explore app adjusts not only the acceleration but also the braking. So, depending on your riding style and preference, you can easily set the braking to either soft or aggressive. 

Battery and Range

Have you ever wondered what the point of all the power is if your ride dies too soon? One of the biggest differences between the Diablo Bamboo and many other electric skateboards is its massive range.

Some boards struggle to last for some time, while this one is built for long rides without continuous recharging.

The Diablo bamboo is equipped with a 43.2V, 864Wh, 20Ah Samsung 50S battery, which allows you to cover long distances with just one charge.

If you are riding on street wheels, you can reach up to 80 km (50 miles) on a single charge, whereas the all-terrain wheels give an impressive 50 km (31 miles). It is helpful for those who love long rides without worrying about running out of power.

But what about the charge? Well, it takes around 4 hours from empty to full. That is quite a reasonable charging time for a battery with such power. One plus point is that, since it is a 20Ah Samsung 50S battery, you will get better cooling, steady power, and a longer lifespan than other ordinary batteries. 

If you constantly push your ride to its limits, you might see a bit less mileage. Of course, some factors will also affect your range, like the rider’s weight, the type of terrain you are riding on, and how aggressively you ride.

Remote and lights

The Diablo bamboo is equipped with an Evolve Phaze remote, which is built with a CNC aluminum-reinforced body. It has multiple riding modes to match your skill levels, like eco, GTR, sport, and custom modes. It means you can set your ride to be smooth or even aggressive like the way you want.

The remote helps you fine-tune your acceleration and braking, switch between ride modes, and monitor your battery level. It is also highly durable compared to other cheap plastic remotes that might break if you drop them.
